This book is just too much fun. The rhymes are so cleaver and the illustrations are incredible. I can't wait for the physical book to come out. It's going to make such a great gift around the holidays.

I'm sleeping with the lights on from now on!!!!!

MEET THE MAD SCIENTIST

Kristen Tomaru, author and illustrator of Night Terrors, is a renowned creative hailing from New York City. In recent reviews, she has been called the Dark, Twisted, Dr. Seuss, and credits her enhancement of artistry to taking classes at Parsons School of Design, Rhode Island School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, and The Cooper Union.

Kristen has been an artist her entire life, and even from a young age, her talents were recognized at a high level by receiving the New York Arts Connection Award. She describes writing Night Terrors as a book that took her out of her comfort zone, due to it being so different from the happy and colorful pieces she grew up creating. However, she claims that she never had more fun working on a book, because as it continued to grow darker and more gruesome, the more she continued to laugh. The legend goes that you could hear her giggling from the other room as her brilliantly twisted mind came up with each new line for Night Terrors.

Growing up Kristen was never a “girly girl” and found drawing monsters and dragons the most fun after realizing she could create them in so many fascinating ways, without them ever being wrong. Writing a book as dark and twisted as Night Terrors was a continuation of her idea that not everything had to have a happy ending to be an incredible story.

Along with being an author and artist, Kristen is also a wife and mother of an adorable 1-year-old daughter, Sunny, who seems to be following in her mother’s footsteps, as she loves The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach. Kristen now resides in St. Petersburg, FL where she enjoys days at the pool, cuddling with her dog, and creating stories so scary that you'll find yourself sleeping with the lights on at any age.
